Water, oxygen and other corrosive substances in the air, as well as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, caustic soda, etc., are substances with a small molecular volume. It is not difficult to penetrate the paint film. Once penetrated, it will contact the substrate (metal and other materials) and corrode it.

The use of high-quality mica pigment is an important means to improve the quality and performance of anti-corrosion coatings and exterior wall coatings. During the coating process, the mica wafer is lie down by the surface tension before the paint film is cured, and automatically forms a structure parallel to each other and parallel to the surface of the paint film. Such a layer arrangement is oriented perpendicular to the direction in which the corrosive substance penetrates the paint film, and the barrier function is fully exerted.

The problem is that the sheet-like structure of mica pigment powder must be perfect. The default standard for foreign industrial enterprises is that the ratio of diameter to thickness should be at least 50 times, preferably 70 times or more, otherwise the effect is not satisfactory. Because the thinner the wafer, the effective barrier area formed by the amount of unit filler is larger. On the contrary, if the wafer is too thick, it will not form much barrier layer, and the filler loaded with particles will have no such effect at all. Also, if the mica wafer has perforations and tears, it will seriously affect the barrier effect (corrosive substances are easily leaked). The thinner the mica powder wafer, the larger the barrier area formed by the unit filler amount, and the moderate particle size (not suitable for excessively thin), the better the effect.
